NEXSW Tour 2023: Roanoke to Damascus

Tour recap: July 3

Monday morning, we checked out of our Airbnb and went for a little hike at Carvins Cove Recreation Area, about 25 minutes north of Roanoke, VA. After three days of gigs in hot weather, we would have loved to jump in this lake. Alas, it is a drinking water reservoir, and swimming was not allowed.

We had lunch in Roanoke, then popped into an old-fashioned general store that had giant bins full of all sorts of candy. Needless to say, we loaded up on unhealthy roadtrip snacks.

And then we drove a few hours to our next Airbnb rental outside of Damascus, VA. We had booked almost a week there, and we were ready to unwind and relax and stay in one place for awhile! We had an entire cottage to ourselves on the side of a country road, complete with chickens and turkeys running around. It was perfect.
